LL Cool J’s Latest Project

From track suits and Kangols to FUBU, LL Cool J has always been at the forefront of hip-hop fashion. Back in December 2020, the Queens rap legend launched a collection inspired by hip-hop’s history with gold chains. LL’s Rock The Bells fashion line is a collaboration with artist Alexander-John. After first working together on apparel and accessories inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, now the pair has released the Chain Collection.

There’s no denying the impact that gold chains have had on our culture. Designer Alexander John has taken this cultural staple and remixed it like only someone who loves the culture can.

The hip-hop veteran released a must-watch and thought-provoking freestyle earlier this year, addressing the death of George Floyd and nationwide protests.

“For 400 years you had your knees on our necks/A garden of evil with no seeds of respect/In America’s mirror, all she sees is regret/Instead of letting blood live, they begging for blood lead/Revenge is a dish that’s served on platelets/Transfusion or confusion, abusing our intellect/I can’t be bought with a 1200 dollar check/Even though 1200 dollars can make a meal stretch/My mama wasn’t rich but she earned my respect/She made a little bit of money for a lot of blood, tears and sweat/Jumping up and down on police cars, I’m vexed” -LL Cool J’s Instagram
