The wait for hip-hop star Kanye West’s DONDA is almost over. His elusive manager Abou “Bu” Thiam has revealed that the project will definitely drop very soon.
Bu, who also works as the Vice President of Def Jam Records, gave fans some amazing news in his Instagram comments. He says after the third listening party that occurs next week, ‘Ye’s DONDA will 100% drop.
Bu’s comments come in light of the Chicago native is returning home. The hip-hop veteran went online to announce a third DONDA listening party taking place in his hometown.
Yeezy himself will grace the stage at Soldier Field on August 26, a little more than a week from now. Tickets go on sale this Friday and will most likely be sold out quickly, so be sure to get in that virtual waiting line as soon as you can.
‘DONDA SOLDIER FIER 8.26.21’
The Grammy-winning rapper might just prove third time’s the charm. New buzz and speculation originally suggested another Donda album listening event was slated to go down in his Chi-town hometown – something Mr. West has confirmed now.
The event would relocate from Atlanta, Georgia’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Details are still scarce, but Chi-Town’s Fake Shore Drive music blog was correct in hinting that the event will be happening locally.
“Donda listening party in Chicago 👀”
Although the Donda album is still nowhere in sight, it’s not stopping his own popularity on the streaming giants. The hip-hop star’s presence on everything from Apple Music to Spotify has exploded with people taking in his tunes.
Since buzz started around Donda possibly dropping around late-July 2021, Kanye’s streams have racked up. All tallied up, Ye’s combined numbers are nearly a quarter of a billion streams in just a few weeks.
All in all, in the 22-day period from July 19 (when he initially announced the first Donda live event) to Aug. 9, West has racked up 240.2 million streams, an average of 10.9 million a day — which is up 37% from the 22-day period prior (June 27 – July 18), when he posted a combined 175.7 million streams, an average of 8 million a day. Kanye might not even need to ever release Donda to continue enjoying the benefits from all the buzz surrounding it. (Billboard)
