New Date and Location for 2022 Grammy Awards Revealed

Music’s biggest night still has big things in store.

The 2022 Grammy Awards have a new date, and will be taking place on April 3 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The telecast—which will start at 8 p.m. ET—has been rescheduled following the postponement of its original January broadcast due to heightened COVID-19 concerns over the omicron variant.

Trevor Noah will take on his hosting duties for yet another year, with the event produced by Fulwell 73 Productions for the Recording Academy.

Opting to transport the broadcast from Los Angeles to Vegas, show organizers settled on the 17,000-seat arena, which hosted the Latin Grammys just months back. This is the second year in a row that the Grammys have been resceduled, as a 2021 postponement due to a California-based COVID spike saw the awards kicked to March 14.

That scaled-down event took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and was largely performance focused, earning positive reviews, per Variety. This year, however, the publication reports that the Recording Academy is hoping to have a live show with an audience to match this time around.

Jon Batiste leads the 2022 nomination pool with 11 nods, as Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. each have eight. While it will be shown on CBS as it usually is, the event will also be streamable on Paramount+.

It should be an interesting show this year, after Drake—who earned nods in two rap categories—decided to pull his nominations. As a result, he is no longer nominated for Best Rap Album for Certified Lover Boy and Best Rap Performance for “Way 2 Sexy.”
